New theme

Show part of the picture about new theme.

Ss guess it.

Today’s our aim is to understand the main idea of the text and to tell about your favourite sport using joining sentences and new words.


Divide into 3 groups

Students get piece of paper about types of sport. They should find other parts of the picture. They will be in one group.


New words

Explain the new words and hide one of the them. Ss should find it.

Go through the Check these words box with Ss.


                    Play the game Bingo.       

Ss choose one number, answer the questions according to the text and earn money. There is one surprise in one table. If one group choose this table they don’t answer. They just get their money.


Warm up activity

To present and practise linkers.


·         Ask Ss to read the three sentences and complete the grammar.

·         Ensure Ss understand the differences between similar, opposing and alternative.


Consolidation of the grammar.

Ex 3. Each team stay in one line one by one T tells sentences without linkers. If there are missed linkers and Ss should move on the right.

Each teams Ss should stand in one line by one and put the correct joining sentences.

T will give for each team pictures Ss should make sentences by answering to the following questions.

Ss stick to the first place if they understood all the material. If they don’t understand fully stick to second place. If they have difficulties in some tasks to third place.
