 The theme: Shopping

The aim: to teach pupils speak about shopping, to study new words and practice them in speech, to develop pupil’s  critical thinking, their abilities  to work in groups, to teach them respect each other.

Methods of teaching: critical thinking, group work, giving associations, dialogue.

Procedure of the lesson

  1. Organization moment: greeting the students. 1.Good morning! How are you?

– Good morning! We are fine and you? I’m fine too, thank you. Let’s start our lesson

I want  divide  you into two groups.

2.Phonetic drill: For the phonetic drill  we have the song  “ If you are happy”    3.Checking up homework Ex.11,12 p. 42

Dividing pupils into groups

  • I’ll show the video about the shopping and ask some questions.

T: Do you like shopping?

Ps: Yes, I do. I like shopping (very much).

T: Do you often go shopping?

Ps: Yes, I do. I often go shopping. / No, I don’t. I don’t often go shopping.

T:  Who usually goes shopping in your family?

Ps: My Mum goes shopping. / My parents go shopping.

T: When did you go shopping last time?

Ps: I went shopping on Sunday (yesterday).

T: Who did you go shopping with?

Ps: I went shopping with my Mum (alone).

T: What new things did you buy?

Ps: We bought butter, sugar, apples and sausages.

Ps: We bought a sweater and a T-shirt for me.

T: Do you usually try on sweaters (shoes, jeans) before you buy them?

Ps: Yes, I do. I usually try things on.

T: Who bought this blouse (T-shirt, sweater, jacket) for you?

Ps: My Mum (sister, Dad, aunt) bought it.

5.Work with  new words.

-Let’s work  with new words. I’ll read  you must repeat after me.

 

  1. Group work

T:  Now we will go to the shop.

T: Make up your own dialogues in pairs. Act out your dialogues. All the rest must be attentive and you should answer the following questions: What has the customer bought? How much does it cost?
