Lesson Structure

1. Warm-Up (5–10 minutes)

  • Ask: «What rules do you follow at school or home? Why do we need rules?»

  • Transition: «Just like schools have rules, countries have rules too. These are written in a special document called the Constitution.»

2. Introduction to the Constitution (10 minutes)

  • Define Constitution: A fundamental law that establishes the structure, functions, and limits of a government.

  • Brief history:

    • Adopted on August 30, 1995

    • Celebrated as Constitution Day

  • Show a short video or image of the Constitution book of Kazakhstan.

3. Main Features of the Constitution (15 minutes)

Highlight key points:

  • Sovereignty and unity of the state

  • Democratic and legal state structure

  • Rights and freedoms of citizens (Articles 12–39)

  • Rule of law

  • Role of the President, Parliament, and Government

Use a short presentation or infographic to simplify key points.

4. Group Activity (10–15 minutes)

Task: Divide students into small groups. Give each group an excerpt from the Constitution.

  • Have them read and discuss what it means.

  • Ask them to present it to the class in simple language or with a short sketch.

5. Reflection and Discussion (5–10 minutes)

  • How does the Constitution protect our rights?

  • Why is it important for young people to know the Constitution?
