Teacher distributes cards “Talking about cities”.
Low motivated learners try to complete the sentences with the words below: quiet, famous, noisy, small, part, fast, expensive, nice, interesting Middle motivated learners complete the sentences with the words below and translate these sentences. High motivated learners create their own sentences by describing pictures. Descriptors: A learner knows new words. reads and translates the sentences. Answer the questions They decide which features should be included; make a key with symbols; write coordinates where the features can be found. They give the city a name. Learners in pairs brainstorm adjectives they can use to persuade people to visit their city to describe their fantasy city and its features e.g. Encourage learners to practice comparative and superlative adjectives; beautiful, the best, better than any city in the country, clean, great, happy place, nice, exciting, famous, fine, top, excellent Explain what a persuasive text is. Below their map learners write a short, persuasive text to try to get people to visit their city. (30-50 words) F.A. 50- words Very well! 40 – pictures Good! 30 – pictures Try again! Descriptors: A learner uses new words (beautiful, garbage, exciting etc) at least 4-5 words presents his/her ideal city creatively uses comparative and superlative adjectives writes 30-50 words Read the text again and answer the questions.
