Introduction
In the context of globalization, foreign language education plays a crucial role in the modern school system. English and German are not only means of communication but also tools for academic and cultural integration. Therefore, improving the effectiveness of teaching these languages is one of the key tasks of contemporary pedagogy.
This article is based on materials collected during pre-graduation practice and focuses on identifying effective methods of teaching English and German in secondary school. The relevance of the study lies in the need to combine theoretical knowledge with real teaching practice.
Purpose and Objectives of the Study
The purpose of this study is to examine effective methods of teaching English and German and to justify their use in the secondary school classroom.
The objectives of the study include:
•analyzing theoretical foundations of foreign language teaching;
•identifying modern teaching methods applicable to English and German lessons;
•implementing selected methods during teaching practice;
•evaluating their influence on students’ language development.
Research Methods
To achieve the research objectives, the following methods were applied:
•analysis of pedagogical and methodological literature;
•classroom observation;
•practical teaching activities;
•reflection and generalization of teaching experience.
These methods made it possible to assess the effectiveness of teaching approaches in real educational conditions.
Effective Methods of Teaching English and German
During the teaching practice, communicative and interactive methods proved to be the most effective. These methods encourage students to actively use the foreign language in meaningful situations.
The following techniques were widely applied:
•role-playing and dialogue-based activities;
•pair and group work;
•task-based learning;
•use of audiovisual materials;
•problem-solving and discussion tasks.
Such methods helped create a supportive learning environment and reduced students’ fear of making mistakes.
Results and Discussion
The application of interactive teaching methods had a positive effect on students’ learning outcomes. Learners demonstrated increased participation in lessons, improved speaking skills, and higher motivation to study foreign languages. Additionally, students became more confident in expressing their ideas in English and German.
The results confirm that learner-centered teaching contributes to the development of communicative competence and supports sustainable learning.
Conclusion
The study shows that effective teaching of English and German in secondary school requires the integration of modern, interactive methods into the learning process. Pre-graduation practice demonstrated that communicative approaches significantly enhance students’ language abilities and interest in learning foreign languages.
The findings of this study can be used by future teachers to improve the quality of foreign language education in secondary schools.
